Zach and his wife, Caroline, grew up in Rockville, Maryland. They live in Potomac, Maryland, with their three children, Annie, Billy, and Claire, and their dog Oliver. In the little free time he has, Zach likes to read, particularly history and classic novels. He is an avid music fan with a growing collection of vinyl LPs and is a craft beer enthusiast who enjoys exploring esoteric styles. He is a mediocre golfer, volunteer basketball coach, and passionate fan of the Washington Nationals and the University of Maryland, along with the Wizards and Redskins. A baseball history buff, he is a member of the Society for American Baseball Research. Zach earned a degree in finance from the University of Maryland. After graduation, Zach joined John Smith Advisors a precursor to JS&Co.. as a portfolio analyst. He served in that capacity for seven years, working primarily with Alex Armstrong. He then earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificate and began working with clients of his own. He also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM designation.
